WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Robert Hurt (R-Virginia) released the following statement after the House passed S.1, the Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act. The bill will now go to the President for approval:
“After six years of needless delay, it is high time for the President to put aside excuses and approve the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. Despite numerous exhaustive reviews and widespread support for approval of the pipeline, this Administration has used a variety of tactics to delay the project’s progress. The House has already voted to approve this project several times with strong bipartisan support, and now with working partners in the Senate, we will send this bill to the President’s desk.
“The Keystone XL Pipeline is a crucial piece of our energy strategy aimed at increasing North American energy production and giving Americans more affordable energy choices. I call on the President to quickly sign this bipartisan bill into law so that we may end this senseless delay and begin reaping the benefits of this significant initiative. I will continue to work with my colleagues to implement an all-of-the-above energy strategy that will lower gas prices, create new American jobs, strengthen our national security, and make life easier for our families, Main Street businesses, and small farms.”
